Shanghai is the financial hub of one of the world’s most rapidly-developing economies. Some of the most sought-after office space in the city can be found in this affluent area. The towering skyscrapers – many of which are designed by leading international architects – provide an apt backdrop for the thriving Shanghai business lifestyle. Many of the office spaces found in central Shanghai are Grade A benchmark properties.

Business Information

Shanghai has seen a dramatic rise in big industry business in the last few decades. Something of a poster-child for the effects of globalisation, the open markets have allowed the city to transform into a glittering metropolis of 21 million people. With more skyscrapers than New York, the region now accounts for 30% of China’s foreign exports and attracts 25% of all foreign investment into the country. The GDP of the region alone is $450bn – equivalent to half of the entire economy of India. More than 500 multinational companies have established regional headquarters in the region, ranging from General Motors to Volkswagen.

Entertainment And Dining Out

A number of attractive culinary and entertainment excursions are to be discovered throughout the area. With such a high concentration of business centres, the services industry has done well to provide for every budget. Traditional tea houses are open 24 hours a day, and are a dedicated social hub for workers of every practice. Open-air bars are popular throughout the area and surrounding districts, and one has a huge choice of international galleries, high-end retail outlets, world cuisine, and coffee shops. As with most large cities, there are a multitude of options appropriate for every mood and function.

Transport Information

Shanghai’s sprawling transportation system rivals that of London in size and functionality. The city boasts a first for the country – two international airports, Pudong International and Hongqiao International. 1,000 flights pass through these two modern airports each day, and are linked with many domestic and international cities. The rail system is comfortable and inexpensive, with a dedicated, regular timetable. There are twelve subway lines that connect the main districts and commercial areas, peak time being 07.00 to 09.30, and 16.30 to 19.30. Shanghai’s central business locations are served by four of these twelve, making transport options highly versatile.
