The Challenge

In October 2020 YouGov, the international research data and analytics group, approached Office Freedom to assist in finding suitable office space for their team in Stockholm. You Gov needed a great central location, a specific size of office and a bespoke configuration, all on the best terms.

The Outcome

Having taken a detailed and challenging brief from the client, Office Freedom was able to find a suitable office in Stockholm that met with all YouGov’s requirements and negotiated advantageous terms on their behalf. YouGov was sufficiently impressed that it subsequently engaged Office Freedom to represent them in office search projects in Romania and India and to act as their global commercial property agent thereafter.

Background

YouGov have a number of offices worldwide and were initially looking for an office in Stockholm for their team of six, with additional requirements for offices in Bucharest and India. It was vital that the office in Sweden was close to Stockholm Central Station and offered more workspace than would usually be the case. The offices would need reconstruction to provide a bespoke configuration to YouGov’s requirements. For their Romanian and Indian offices, key considerations included IT, governance and multi-time zone working. YouGov were insistent that their cost, headcount and operational requirements be understood and met. Adequate space had to be allocated for IT comms, staff lockers and restrooms. Privacy and security were paramount.

The Approach

Initial phone calls were arranged to get a detailed definition and full understanding of the brief. Once the brief had been agreed, Office Freedom was able to identify and recommend properties that had not previously been considered or viewed. In addition, Office Freedom was able to offer expert evaluation of offices already under consideration by the client.

A shortlist of recommended properties was carefully refined, and Office Freedom went to work to negotiate the best possible commercial and contract terms for YouGov on their preferred office. Commercial costs and terms & conditions were presented to the client and reviewed by their internal legal and governance teams. Once agreement was reached, a license agreement was presented for signature and the process was complete.
